From the Tucson Citizen:
Ten Arizona state senators, including six Republicans, have written to Republican U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona asking him to allow a Senate vote on a bill that would strengthen the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. . .
. . . Kyl is on the wrong side on this important issue. He should listen to fellow elected officials from both political parties and reconsider his objections.
A stronger Freedom of Information Act is needed in a society that has been whipsawed by political leaders into thinking that government secrecy and surrender of individual freedoms is OK in the name of protection and security.
We’ll protect ourselves, thank you. We want to know what government is doing for us – and to us.
